The
Spice Girls
reunited last night at the 2012 London Olympics closing ceremony,
bringing back their edgy, girl power-infused fashion with a
modernized twist. Riding out on glittering London cabs, Posh,
Ginger, Baby, Sporty and Scary performed a medley of "Wannabe" and
"Spice Up Your Life" in costumes that spoke to each girl's signature
style.
Fashion's favorite Spice Girl,
Victoria Beckham,
revealed her look via Twitter saying that she had a fitting with
designer Giles Deacon prior to the performance. Deacon created a
classic Posh mini dress (black, of course) with an exaggerated train
of billowing ruffles. Our favorite look of the evening, this
contemporary and sophisticated dress was the perfect costume for the
singer-turned-fashion designer's return to the stage.
Geri Halliwell,
the spiciest Spice Girl, looked stunning in a red strapless dress
by Suzanne Neville. But the look didn't stop there -- Ginger Spice
also had the Union Jack incorporated into the large bustle of the
dress. She finished the look with gold detailing that matched her
glittering gold boots and tiara.
Wearing a look that wasn't very Baby Spice -- aside from the color --
Emma Bunton rocked out in a pink Maggie Cooke mini dress with a plunging neckline and sparkling shoulder pads.
Mel C
kept it sporty in a fitted white jumpsuit with flare legs. She
brought it into this decade, however, with chic metallic wedge
sneakers.
Last but not least,
Mel B
dazzled in a twinkling crystal cat suit by Lebanese designer Zuhair
Murad. Although a bit too "J. Lo" for our taste, the skintight
bodysuit looked fierce -- and not at all scary -- on Scary Spice.
